What does an OSSBuy order actually cost?
The full cost includes the products, delivery to the warehouse, service and payment fees, international shipping, any packing or protection you choose, and any import or delivery charges paid separately. The product price alone does not establish the total.
If two offers use the same photo, establish what each price actually buys before entering either figure. The comparison of hoodie listings with the same photo and different prices walks through seller references, versions and missing evidence.
Use one currency for the calculation, record which charges are included in each quote, and mark missing figures as unknown. Prices here are in Chinese yuan (CNY) and were checked on 26 October 2026. Check the current checkout price and exchange rate before paying.
Build a cost sheet before buying
| Cost line | Where the figure comes from | Avoid this mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Products | Current price for each selected option × quantity. | Using the cheapest displayed variant instead of the one ordered. |
| Domestic shipping | Seller-to-warehouse delivery for the actual order. | Adding one seller’s delivery charge separately to every item when it is already combined. |
| Buying and payment charges | Itemised service, payment or conversion charges shown for your transaction. | Assuming a percentage or exchange rate from an old screenshot. |
| International freight | One packed-parcel quote for your destination and route. | Multiplying a parcel quote by the number of products. |
| Packing and protection | Services selected and not already included in freight. | Adding optional charges twice. |
| Import and local delivery charges | The route’s inclusion terms and any applicable separate assessment. | Treating an unspecified tax amount as zero. |
Record the date beside an estimate. A quote for another destination, box size or group of goods is a different comparison. See the shipping guide for the inputs to collect.
Worked example: one parcel, one currency
| Line | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Goods | Two T-shirts at 80 + a hoodie at 180 + shoes at 240. | 580 |
| Domestic delivery | Combined seller-to-warehouse charges. | 24 |
| Buying service | A separately quoted service charge. | 6 |
| Payment / conversion | Separately payable cost, not already in the figures above. | 18 |
| International freight | One quote for the complete parcel. | 260 |
| Packing | Selected packing service. | 12 |
| Protection | Selected protection option. | 20 |
| Import / local charges | A separately confirmed amount in this example. | 35 |
| Example delivered total | 580 + 24 + 6 + 18 + 260 + 12 + 20 + 35. | 955 |
Before the international leg, the first four lines total 628 CNY. The remaining example charges add 327 CNY. If the import figure is unknown, write “920 CNY plus unconfirmed import/local charges”; 920 is then a partial budget, not a confirmed delivered total.
There are four items in this example. Dividing 955 by four gives an average of 238.75 CNY per item for your notes, but that does not mean every product incurred equal freight or import charges.
Keep currency conversion and payment fees separate
When converting a budget, write the rate with its direction. At a hypothetical rate of 7 CNY per USD, 700 CNY ÷ 7 = 100 USD. If the rate is expressed in the opposite direction, the arithmetic changes. Do not mix CNY product prices with USD freight in the same sum.
The rate actually offered by a buying service, card or payment provider can differ from a public market rate. If the payment screen already shows the final charged amount including conversion, use that final amount and add only fees that are genuinely separate. Save both the quote and the charged amount so you can reconcile them.
Update the shipping cost in your budget
Packaging adds weight and changes dimensions. A route may use actual weight, volumetric weight or other minimum and rounding rules. A parcel of light outerwear can occupy more space than expected, and boxed shoes can affect the footprint.
Compare your estimated weight and dimensions with the packed values. If you remove a box or change packing, ask for the updated quote rather than subtracting an assumed saving. The packing guide explains that decision; the selected route’s rules determine the bill.
Compare a coupon and a revised parcel fairly
A hypothetical 10% discount on the example’s 260 CNY international freight would save 26 CNY if that whole line were eligible and no cap applied. It would not reduce the full 955 CNY budget by 10%. Check the qualifying route, expiry, minimum spend, discount base and maximum saving.
For a revised quote, keep the destination, contents and services consistent. Removing protection to make one quote look cheaper changes what you are buying. If the packed freight rises from 260 to 310 CNY with everything else unchanged, the example total becomes 1,005 CNY.
Final budget check before dispatch
- Every selected item and quantity is represented.
- All amounts use the same currency and a recorded conversion method.
- The final packed dimensions and route match the freight quote.
- Included taxes, services and surcharges are not counted twice.
- Unknown amounts remain visible, with room in your budget to resolve them.
- Any return decision is settled before the item joins the parcel.
If the delivered total no longer fits your limit, pause before international dispatch. Review the shortlist or compare eligible packing and route options; do not assume a cheap item stays cheap after delivery.
